CHANGE IN ZOOM INSTRUCTIONAL SESSIONS FROM WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21 TO FRIDAY, APRIL 23 :

Due to teachers working on preparing their classroom environments for in-person instruction, our Zoom Instructional Sessions will be student "Check-Ins" from 10:30-11:00am from Wednesday, April 21st to Friday, April 23rd.  Zoom Meetings on those days will primarily be updates & information regarding the changes in scheduling associated with reopening Dayton School and sharing of Autobiography Slide Shows for those scheduled to share with the class on those days.

HOWEVER, additional classwork WILL be provided on these days by Mr. Moore. This a link to this classwork can be found under each day's "Daily Instructional Schedule and Classwork" in the Google Classroom.

Regular instruction and classwork will resume with the new Hybrid Learning model on Monday, April 26th.

NO P.E. ON THURSDAY, APRIL 22: Regularly scheduled P.E. instruction will not take place this week due to preparations being made for Hybrid Learning.

Students will be informed by the Coach Mac and/or myself as to what the new P.E. schedule will be moving forward.  Students should be checking their school-issued email regularly for updates on scheduling.

NO WEDNESDAY MORNING GATHERING THIS WEEK: Due to the significant changes and adjustments being made within such a short time period, there will be no Wednesday Morning Gathering this week.

Updates will be given once Wednesday Morning Gatherings resume.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON REOPENING, IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION, HYBRID LEARNING, AND THOSE REMAINING IN DISTANCE LEARNING:

The situation regarding changes linked to reopening is VERY tumultuous right now.  Specifics regarding scheduling, protocols, expectations, and routines are all being developed on a day-by-day (and, in some cases, hour-by-hour!) basis.

I am doing everything I can to keep families informed of all relevant information just as soon as it becomes available to me.  As of right now, there isn't a lot of specifics I can provide regarding what a return to in-person instruction will look like next week.  Similarly, we don't haver definitive information on the exact details related to those who will remain in Distance Learning.

ALL STUDENTS, however, will be continue doing some degree of computer-based classwork through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR NEW INFORMATION THIS WEEK: There will be a tremendous amount of decisions made this week in terms of reopening.  Please check your email, voicemail, and be prepared to hear from our school & district about what to expect (phone, regular mail correspondence, etc.).

You will likely be invited to an online parent meeting hosted by our principal, Mr. Moore, in the very near future.  I HIGHLY recommend that families attend one of these meetings once they're announced (I'll continually update this page with a link as new information becomes known).  Mr. Moore will have a thorough explanation of how Dayton School plans to move forward with reopening, will answer questions, and will be able to provide you with all necessary information.

For more immediate concerns, please email Mr. Moore at [email protected].

I sympathize with families experiencing frustration on not knowing all the details related to the impending change in instruction.  I experience a great deal of frustration myself as I have to change and adapt my teaching on a nearly daily basis to accommodate all the new things being presented to our teaching staff each day.

With so many things developing in such rapid succession, I humbly ask that you remain patient with us as we work to attend to the latest changes.

Thank you.

Be well.  Stay safe.

Mr. Olsen
